Dcpa
DCPA (Dacthal) is a herbicide used to control weeds. It can enter drinking water through agricultural runoff. Long-term exposure may affect liver and thyroid function.
DCPA, also known as Dacthal, is a synthetic herbicide introduced in the 1950s. It's primarily used to control annual grasses and broadleaf weeds in various crops. DCPA can persist in the environment and accumulate in soil, eventually making its way into water sources through agricultural runoff and soil leaching. Water utilities measure DCPA levels in parts per billion (ppb). The EPA has established a maximum contaminant level goal of 70 ppb for DCPA in drinking water to protect public health.
